25 Years of the Alliance for Public Health:

Changing the Story in Ukraine and Impact Across the EECA Region

Twenty-five years ago, HIV, tuberculosis, and other public health challenges seemed insurmountable. Millions of lives were at risk, with devastating consequences for families and communities across Ukraine and beyond.

On December 1, 2000, the Alliance for Public Health was established as an international technical assistance project under the Transatlantic HIV Prevention Initiative, supported by USAID and the European Union. Over the past 25 years, the Alliance has had a significant impact on transforming the fight against HIV, TB, hepatitis, and other epidemics in Ukraine, ensuring access to life-saving treatment, prevention, and support services for hundreds of thousands of people, with influence extending across the EECA region.

In recent years, the Alliance has applied its full expertise and resilience to sustain critical health programs even amid the challenges of war, keeping HIV, TB, and other epidemics under control and supporting the most vulnerable communities.

This year, the Alliance for Public Health celebrates 25 years of making the impossible possible, continuing to drive progress, resilience, and hope across Ukraine and the EECA public health landscape.
